Two-time World Champion Ronnie Alcano and Gandy Valle made it one-two in the Men’s 8-Ball Competition in Vientiane, Laos. In an all Filipino finals, Ronnie beat Fandy 7-1 for the Philippine billiards and snooker team to clinch their first medals of the 25th SEA Games. “We are both very happy and it did not matter as to who would win between the two of us, what is important is we brought medals to the Philippines for sure” Alcano said.
Alcano, who had been a double champions in the 9-Ball and 8-Ball world tournaments in the past, made sure that there will be no disappointments this time in him and Valle easily beat their opponents in the semi-final matches. The 37-year old from Calamba, Laguna, triumphed over Dechawat Poomjaeng of Thailand 7-3 while Valle, who hails from Davao City, outplayed Indonesia’s #1 Francis Bustamante’s old player Ricky Yang.
