The second coming of the Ninjas is here and one of them has invaded Southern California! Los Angeles area Pool Halls have been experiencing the re- emergence of a Ninja since last year. Well, folks she’s not really a real Ninja that we see in the movies, She’s a cute asian girl who plays pool and I don’t have any idea who gave her that nickname. In the world of pool, every pool player who stands out from the rest always gets a nickname based on so many things like habit or mannerisms on and off the table.
Watch out for this upcoming little “Ninja” pool player!! She might be a nice and sweet looking girl but dangerous and a “Killer” on the pool table
Lany Pham, is making her way to the top unnoticed.. She started and learned to like pool when she was in the Elementary grade but became more serious about it towards the end of 2008.
Lany, a UCI student, started playing pool seriously on campus at ZOT zone for about a year before she traveled out her talent to other pool halls around Orange County. She frequent a pool hall in Cypress, Hot Shots Cafe and Billiards is considered to be her poolroom because most of her male and female pool friends hangs out there most of the time.
No one encourages her to play this game but later on, people keep telling her that she got the potential to be a good pool player. This is actually her ultimate goal, her dream is to be one of the best, if not the best female pool player. Her good buddy, Victor “Cubed” Tsuen was the one who brought up her skill and passion for the game. A few other friends gave her tips and pointers that made a huge difference in her game.
Lany is also an active player of the Southern California Ladics 9- Ball Tour and she playod fairly well against some of the more celebrated female players like Melissa Morris, Stacy Novak, Brook Thomason. Melinda Huang, Hiroko Makiyama, Janet Wang, Dara Nakagawa, Angela Ting, Aimee Super, Jenny Lee and Mary “Princess” Avina.
Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante are the two pool players that stood out on her list of favorites.
