Mistica Captures Hard Times Billiards 9-Ball Tournament

Ramon Mistica went undefeated through the field of L.A.’s best pool players, winning over Jenrick Buensuceso to reach the hot seat. Meeting him there was Fach Garcia, who had just bested Jun Almoite 7-5. Mistica dominated the hot seat match 7-2 and sent Garcia to the one-loss side. Once on the left side of the chart, Jun met up and beat Ricky Buensuceso 5-4, then demolished Ismael “Morro” Paez (who was fighting his way through after an early loss) with an overwhelming score of 5-2, sending Paez home in fourth place.

Still on a roll, Garcia matched up with Almoite again and sent him on his way with a 5-3 victory to earn the right to face the eventual champion Mistica in the finals. But Garcia’s steam ran out at that point as Mistica won the final match 9-3. Prior to this tournament, Mistica also won the Hard Times Thursday 9-ball handicap tournament (July 8), besting birthday girl and tournament director Marielle Lim before trouncing Chris Sant in the finals. A back-to-back title for the “Maestro” in a span of 4 days.

Four L.A. based Pinoy Cue Masters, Jun Almoite, Ramon Mistica, Santos Sambajon, and Jose Parica, are heading to Modesto, California this weekend (July 17-18) to try their luck in the 2nd California Pool Players Tour, to be held at Break Time Billiards (formerly Champions Billiards) on McHenry Boulevard.
